Physical Characteristics: Kaiba isn't really the average mafia hitman, as he's not just a large chunk of muscles. He's average height, and quite toned. He's five foot eleven, and weighs fifty eight kilograms. His state of being underweight might be due to the fact that his childhood was spent as a slave, and as such was starved and only given enough to survive. His hair is a strange sort of dirty white, sort of like vanilla instead of the usual down white, and would trail down to between his shoulderblades if he didn't keep it up underneath his wrapping. His uncovered eye is a pleasant indigo, but his covered one is completely black from magical corruption. Despite the fact that it's completely off-colour, it still acts like a normal eye, but due to it being covered up he has no chance to use it. Strangely enough, he has a little skip to his step, making people take him a little less seriously than they would otherwise, thinking of him as young-hearted or easily-usable. This is a calculated measure that he's done for years, getting people to not take him as seriously as they might need to, allowing him to get the drop on those he has to fight.

Attire/Clothing: Kaiba clearly doesn’t give much thought to his clothes and just goes with whatever’s comfortable for him. He wears a thin white striped shirt that appears to be more of a vest than an actual shirt. Underneath that, he wears a black piece of cloth, wrapped around his neck and his face, covering the left side of his face, hiding his markings. It’s pure black, blending in brilliantly with the darkness whenever he’s in the shadows, giving him the impression of only having half a face. In gaps between the folds of the cloth, his white hair sticks out in tufts. He also wears a pair of loose black trousers, giving the impression of martial arts training trousers, with a black belt wrapped around his midrift where he stores his weapon whenever not immediately using it. His shoes are leather boots, able to run on most surfaces without having to worry about slipping.

Abnormalities: Tattoo of a draconequus on his back, the entire left side of his face is covered in bright red tattoos, marking him as an (ex)slave. His left eye is pure black from magical corruption.


Personality: There are two personalities of Kaiba; The first is actually rather silly. The young man who’s always smiling, laughing, playing with those he calls his friends, and working hard to get his job done. He seems to be a little bit immature when he’s like this. He will almost always act like this, causing a lot of people to be shocked and some even to be horrified when he reveals the Kaiba under the surface. In reality, this is just a clever ruse to keep up appearances, allowing people to not take him seriously and thus for his job to be much easier. He learnt, when escaping from his master, that people who believe you to be weaker (mentally, physically and emotionally) than you actually are, will always be easier to kill or to hurt when you have to. As such, his normal personality is forced down when he’s in public. However, when people truly get to become his friend, his ally, his confidante, the other form of him is released.

Under the silliness, the smiling face and the happiness is a repressed genius who takes in everything around him. He understands so much, yet is always acting as if he doesn’t know anything. His skills with blades are almost completely unrivaled, even amongst the samurai community. Maybe this is because of his self-designed style of Rokatana (six swords), causing him to seem like just as much of a monster as his summons. Despite people’s opinions on his actual personality, he’s a very loyal friend and would dive infront of a spell to protect those he holds dear. However, nobody has earned that level of his trust yet. You could compare his personality to his face. Part of it is uncovered, but it’s not the whole story. Still, the rest of the story is gruesome and only an elite few get to see it.

Hobbies:
Music: Surprisingly, Kaiba is highly musically skilled, and is very skilled at playing three instruments; The violin, the piano and, surprisingly, singing. He counts his voice as an instrument, and treats it as such, always making sure to take perfect care of it.
Reading: The best way to know the enemy is to know everything, right? This is Kaiba’s main philosophy and believes that whilst sparring and fighting will make someone strong, it will also leave them stupid. What is the point of knowing how to fight without knowing what you’re fighting against?
Psychoanalysis: Now, this is an interesting hobby of Kaiba’s. He likes to see what people will do and see what that says about the person. He believes that both actions and words speak at the same volume, but it’s always what’s behind the words that is talking.
Sword-fighting: Whether it’s using one sword, two, or even all six, Kaiba loves swordfighting. For the relatively short amount of time that he’s been doing it, he’s extremely skilled. Whilst his magic might still be rather novice, his skills as a duelist is amazing.

Likes:
Crime, messing with people’s heads, sweet foods, weapons, classical music, having someone who he sees as an equal, leather (no, this isn’t a fetish)
Dislikes: Prudes, boring people, sour foods, peace, unnecessarily loud people or music, being ordered around.
Inspiration: Kaiba’s inspiration is the urge for continued freedom. As someone to whom freedom is still a new concept, he wants to keep it as long as physically possible, and although he joined a guild it was more for the feeling of family instead of having something to belong to. However, there is another inspiration; The urge for competition. He wants someone to pit his wits and skills against constantly, someone who he can see as an equal.
Fears:
Cleithrophobia: Kaiba has a fear of enclosed spaces. he doesn’t mind being in crowds or in buildings, or small spaces that he can get out of quickly, but if he’s trapped inside of one and is unable to see how he’d get out (e.g. an ice cage) he would start to panic.
Ecophobia: He is, quite literally, scared of his home. Now, this might seem a little pathetic but you have to understand that his ‘home’ was where he was used as a slave, and as such ties in with his fear of losing his freedom.
Amilibertaphobia: this is a fear of losing his freedom unwillingly. He doesn’t mind getting tied down to a girl or a boy or even a guild, but to have it forcibly taken from him both worries and scares him.

Kaiba was born in a far distant land, a land called Dorikaie. It’s a small island off the coast of Peregrande, and the most notable thing about this land? Slavery is still 100% legal. That’s the world where Kaiba was born, the son of an unknown woman in a slave auction house, he was given as a freebie to the man who bought his mother. He was brought up as a worker in the house, where he made a small bond with the son of the house. Despite their different situations, they seemed to be really close friends, and whenever he could sneak off from work he and his friend, a boy called Sai, would play together. However, as they grew up together, Kaiba started seeing weird things about Sai. He would sneak off from home for hours at a time, and would always come home grinning like a maniac, smelling of some strange substance that he never knew what. He stopped eating, but never got thin from it. It was really weird... However, what Kaiba didn’t know was that he was experimenting with a new kind of magic, one that caused people to suffer when used. He and his friends eventually realized that if anyone used it with the magic energy in their bodies, they would end up being in complete agony from it. They had to use a non-mage to host a magic-enabling lacrima to make it work. Of course, with a close friend who was a non-mage, how could he resist using Kaiba as the host?

One night, Kaiba was ordered to come with Sai. Although it felt fishy, his role in the world was as the man’s servant so he had no other choice, and so he followed him. However, he was knocked unconscious the moment he entered the building he had been taken to, and when he awoke the right side of his face was disfigured worse than it had been before. Sure, he’d always had a slave mark on his face, but for some reason his eye had turned completely black. Sai claimed it was a side-effect of the experimental surgery, and that it didn’t matter. When it first happened, it hurt almost permanently but Sai didn’t care. That was when Kaiba decided, he would get a little bit of own back on Sai. He organized a special prank for his friend but it went wrong. Sai got angry, and attacked Kaiba. For some reason. Kaiba couldn’t hold back and fought back, killing Sai in the scuffle. It took a few moments to even understand what he’d done, but then he realized, it felt good. Beating someone, being better than someone, it felt unbelievable. That night, he killed his master and took a few of his swords, but the most important thing that he took was his master’s scarf, which he currently wears around his face, hiding both his slave mark and his corrupted eye. With that done, he left his ‘home’ and started to travel. For a while, he managed to go without doing anything rash, he’d developed a false personality to make sure that nobody ever thought too badly of him. However, this turned into a completely different reason as he started killing for personal gain, stealing their belongings and selling them off. This was when he started liking sword fighting, as he’d stolen his master’s prize swords when he left home and realized that they weren’t just a tool of convenience, they were his paintbrush and everyone else’s body was his canvas.

Within a few years, he’d left the country and had moved to Fiore. He’s been here for the last three years, and had been a rogue mage for the last two years, but late last year he stumbled across a man who was being attacked by three Tartaros mages. He was holding his own, but Kaiba decided to step in and have a little fun, ripping the mages apart with his own style. Apparently his skill had impressed the guy he was fighting with and he was offered to join Sable Pantera. The chance to have friends, to have a purpose, to live on his own terms... it was irresistable. he joined up within the week and has been serving as a loyal member for the last year.
